Human Beings as Value Beings!

The human evolutionary journey moved forward all through ancient times, and individuals with specialized skills and knowledge were recognized as professionals and respected for the same.

The concept of a profession became more formalized in the 18th and 19th centuries. Professional associations were formed to represent, train, and guide individuals in specific fields.

The Industrial Revolution happened, and we kept on evolving further from need-based activities to sharing responsibilities, making required contributions, and creating desired value.

I would say, “We evolved as much into Human Beings as Value Beings.”

The ability and opportunity to be of value is important for the following reasons:

✅A sense of purpose and fulfilment: Individuals derive a sense of satisfaction from their work.

✅Positive impact on society: Serving the needs of others and contributing towards society.

✅Financial security: Monetary and material income enable individuals to support themselves and their families.

By working in a profession, individuals contribute to their communities and to society at large. It is also a means to be of service to fellow human beings.

Being of value in our profession is essential to achieve success and satisfaction in our work. It means finding ways to improve our work and contribute to everyone’s success.

The Japanese educator Tsunesaburo Makiguchi (1875–1944) wrote:

“Humans cannot create matter. We can, however, create value. Creating value is, in fact, the essence of our humanity. When we praise people for their strength of character, we are actually acknowledging their ability to create value.”

We humans, as value beings, keep striving to create new value as it gives us the satisfaction that we seek, and the success that we deserve, both of which lead to our happiness, well-being and success ❣️
